NCsoft was originally founded inside March 1997 by Tack Jin Kim, author of the Korean word processor program called Hangul, the business software developer. One of a company's 1st products was NC HTML Editor. Around September 1998, NCsoft launched its first & virtually all popular game, Lineage. A profits of this game helped a company expand to locations within Taiwan, China, Japan, and a United States.

the company established a The states subsidiary known as NCsoft Austaround (depending in Austin, Texas) as a partnership with Richard Garriott's Destination Games in April 2001. Jake Song also moved to Austin in order to cause development. A branch developed MMORPGs & acts when a personal to NC Interactive, NCsoft's section for trend lines inside North America (which had been established around Could 2000).

NCsoft developed Lineage II and released it inside South Korea in October 1, 2003, and in the United States on April 28, 2004. NCsoft is too a publisher for Guild Wars (developed by their subsidiary ArenaNet) and a MMORPGs City of Heroes and City of Villains (developed by Cryptic Studios).

Launched around July 2004, NCsoft Europe occurs as all owned subsidiary by having its central office around Brighton, England. It brought City of Heroes to several European countries in February 4th 2005 & own announced Lineage II for a late date.
